Website redesign (finally), and why AI can be useless at times.
Welp, I finally got around to doing a website redesign. Good thing too, the last version was a hot mess of cobbled-together code. I am definitely not an expert coder by any means.
I asked an AI agent to help me with it, and I am pretty happy with the results. Amusingly, when it came to getting this blog working, it had made a small error in the formatting of its code so the blog wasn’t displaying the body of the post. The AI got stuck so badly on its own error, I finally decided to ask another model to correct the mistakes for me. I tried the corrected code, and it worked right off the bat.
Although they are often called “AI”, those models are really just very advanced computer algorithms; there’s no true intelligence behind them. No matter how much personality they seem to possess or present with (if any), it’s good to remember that.
It’s very easy for even the best models to “get stuck” in weird loops when they seem like they are being stubborn, arrogant, or simply brain dead; that’s the thing to remember, they don’t actually have any brains.
The sheer amount of processing power it takes them to speak to you in natural language is a feat that any human of typical intellect can do very casually.
The main problem with humans is finding those who share enough of the same character with you that you can have a healthy conversation.
Maybe that’s a poor argument for getting you to look up from your screen, but it’s something to consider, eh?
